How did you select ALLERGYONBOARD for the name of your company?
We selected ALLERGYONBOARD as a way to communicate that a food allergy is present. The allergy being “on board” also supports our message that the allergy is a part of the individual, but does not define the individual. We are all about messages of empowerment. ALLERGYONBOARD….There’s so much more to me!
Why form the company?
We never set out to start a company. Originally, our goal was to help educate our son about his allergy, without causing him to be fearful, anxious, or disempowered. Like many parents, we began by searching the marketplace for products and resources that would support the positive messaging we wanted to convey. We were trying to help our son learn to handle his allergy with independence, self-confidence, and self-esteem. Unfortunately, much of the messaging we found out there had a really negative tone - “don’t feed me!” So, in the spirit of self-reliance, we created our own products and resources. We quickly began to receive positive feedback from other parents with food allergic children and began to think that perhaps what we had created for our son could be used to help other families too.
What makes your products so unique?
Our children’s book series, Allergy Tales, uses rhyme and real-life situations to teach children how to navigate challenging situations with a positive, effective approach. Our apparel line promotes allergy awareness in a creative, non-stigmatizing manner. The style and appearance of our products is fun; the messaging is effective; the results support our mission of empowerment.
What makes your products useful?
Food allergies are extremely serious and for many children, are life-threatening. It really does take a village to raise a child, and we consider ourselves to be members of that village. Raising a child with a food allergy requires the same tools we all need to raise a healthy, happy child…and then some. The ALLERGYONBOARD products are designed to supplement the parent “tool box” – they support parents in educating their children, raising the awareness of others, and promoting safety.

What shirt sizes do you offer?
Our t-shirt designs come in sizes 2T-4T with multiple colors and additional designs coming soon. Our t-shirts are made of 100% preshrunk 6.1oz. Heavy weight cotton.
